Women with Disabilities Victoria warmly invites you to join our Special Online Leadership Hub Meeting with Expression Australia!
The meeting will be Expression Australia training, a fast, focused overview of Deaf culture and inclusive communication. This engaging two-hour session introduces respectful terminology, key cultural concepts, and practical tips for improving interactions with Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind individuals.
It’s an ideal starting point for those who have never engaged in Deaf awareness training before, providing clear and practical strategies that can be implemented immediately in customer service, education, community, or workplace settings. It will cover:
- Understanding Deaf culture and community values
- The importance of respectful language and terminology
- Common communication barriers and how to overcome them
- Tips for improving accessibility in day-to-day interactions
- Introduction to Auslan greetings and basic signs
